Silverfast ignoring serial number

I was running on Windows 7 and now moved to Windows 8. Silverfast was working under 7, but I can't get it to accept the serial number on 8.

The disk with my scanner (Plustek 8200i) runs on Windows 7. I loaded in compatibility mode and the scanner was found. When I try to enter the serial number, I can enter the data, the "Update" button is enabled, I press the button and nothing happens.

I have also downloaded the Silverfast version for Windows 8. Again scanner is found. Enter the serial number, the "Update" button is enabled, I press it and it says I need to insert the disk. I insert the disk, press OK and nothing happens.

Help!

Dear customer,

Which version of SilverFast are you using?

Windows 8 requires SilverFast 8.0.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Dear customer,

Maybe SilverFast has issues detecting your CD drive.
In case you have several CD/DVD/BD drives try inserting the disk in another drive.

You can also exchange your serial for a name based serial here on our website.
This serial would not require a CD/DVD to be inserted.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
