I have recently upgraded to v8 and whilst scanning at 2400dpi works with no issue I cannot complete a final scan at 4800dpi in jpeg or tiff (supported by my canon 9000F) without the software crashing. I am using win32 with 4gb of memory and a i7 processor. I have raised a trouble ticket and after a few emails the team have agreed there is an issue - see response below. It would seem win64 is OK but not 32 and it is not a machine config issue but a silverfast issue. Anyone found a way round it??
This is somehow a 32bit Windows problem only. We have to investigate this more closely. This might require a change of how SilverFast uses your computer's resources which is a critical and deep change. We will need to test this very carefully. This is all I can tell you so far, unfortunately. I will try to raise the priority of this request.
Kind regards

Re: scanning at 4800dpi - software crash
Hello,
I realize this post is old and you have likely moved on by now, but I thought I'd share anyway. Something to keep in mind I a Win32 environment is that APPS only use a maximum of 2GB of RAM. Windows will use more, but not the APPS. This was one of the limitations addressed with Win64.
Ciao for now.
Robert
