I just purchased an Epson v700 to use with my windows 7 computer. Installed Epson software, then started to install Silverfast SE v6.6 which came with the unit. But early in the installation process it aske whether I want to install Photoshop/standalone or TWAIN version. which do I install?

Dear customer,

The Photoshop/stand-alone version installs the normal SilverFast Application and a Photoshop plug-in if Photoshop is active.

The TWAIN installation is used by third party software using a TWAIN interface (e.g. Office products).
This version can not be started on it's own.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thanks for the reply. I was kind of anxious for an answer so after I posted here I called Epson. They said the v700 preferred the TWAIN installation so that is what I did. I am new at this so am a little confused why Epson supplied their software for scanning as well as Photoshop Elements and Silverfast. It seems like redundancy to me, but as i say I am a newbie. I'll be spending time reading on the forum to get some background and perspective, at least on the sivlerfast part. anything you could tell me to get me out of my state of confusion and round out my basic education would be helpful. thanks alot.
