Positive and no Negative option with 8 Ai an Epson V700

Newbie, so I will apologize now. I upgraded online (download) from SE 6 to 8Ai Studio using an Epson V700. When I select film, I only have Positives that can be selected and the Negatives are greyed out. I've upgraded all drivers from Epson, but still no luck. Any suggestions?

Dear customer,

Please make sure you switched to transparency mode.
NegaFix is not available for reflective scanning.

In case you can not switch to transparency please check the cable connecting the transparency unit in the lid to the scanner's chassis.
