Can not install version 6 - Keep getting error message

I have tried to install version 6 but each attempt gives me a type 3 error message on my Mac. I know a type 3 error is a memory problem or a extension conflict but I have tried installing with all but the base extensions turned off. Still the problem exists.

I have an older G3 running OS 8.6 and a Espon 1650 scanner. I have realized that version 6 requires OS 9 (something I didn't know until after the program arrived). 5.5 will install with no problem and works find on my computer.

Any suggestions as what I should try.

Did you try to give your PhotoShop more memory ?

Eric.

Thanks for the suggestion Eric. I did check the amount of memory alloted to photoshop and I have it at 250 mb. Still will not install.

Sometimes the simplest problem really only needs a simple solution.

I was looking for clues to solve my problem by reading some of the other problems people are having during install.

One post asked (my fisrt clue) if the person had Photoshop and Photoshop elements installed. I did. All (my second clue) my photoshop files that I clicked on to open always open in Elements not in Photoshop 6. So I uninstalled Photoshop Elements and tried SF 6 install. It worked!

So I am assuming that the install program gets a little confused where to install so it tried to install in the newest version of Photoshop which in my case was Photoshop Elements. I did not have very much memory alloted to Elements thus I received the error message.
