NksUSB_IEEE1394 LSI installation problems

Postby jchidley » Mon Mar 04, 2013 10:55 am

Hi, when I try to install the driver "NksUSB_IEEE1394 LSI.inf" either manually or automatically I get this error "The system cannot find the file specified".

I am using Windows 8 64 bit, Silverfast 8 Ai, latest version (downloaded today), Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED. I have turned off driver signing.

I had already uninstalled Nikon Scan 4, Silverfast Ai 6.6 following the instructions.

I have installed the software, driver, etc on another machine: it works perfectly.

Dear Jack,

Are you logged in as an administrator?
Have you checked the owner of the .inf file?

Also try placing the .inf file in it's own directory for installation and guide Windows to that directory.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Are you logged in as an administrator? >> Yes
Have you checked the owner of the .inf file? >> yes, administrators and, just to see if it made a difference, full control of the currently logged on user
Also try placing the .inf file in it's own directory for installation and guide Windows to that directory. >> Did that, still doesn't work.

Did you check your security software?

Maybe it blocked the driver installation or access to the necessary files?

This behavior is very unusual.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Has this issue been resolved? Is this driver available, somewhere, for download?

As Admin, in Windows 8, I can not:

1) "disable driver signature enforcement". I can get to the startup setting screen, choose "disable driver signature enforcement" in the menu, but signature enforcement is still active after restart.

2) Install plustek, OpticFilm 8100, v4.0.0
Error message: "Feature: A1C", "Component: ICM Profile", "File: <ICMProfile>\", "Error: Access is denied."

3) Install SilverFast 8 SE Plus (from CD P/No.22-A1C-0051A111)
Error message: "Not supported"

File: "NksUSB_IEEE1396 LSI.INF" does not exist in the windows/inf/ folder.

Computer is one day old, scanner & software three days.
Windows 8, HP P7-1446S desktop

THANKS!

By downloading the latest (?) plustek software, for the 8100 (OF8100-V4001_13L.zip), I was able to load the drivers/software for the device.
I just could not do it from the disc version.

I also downloaded the most recent (?) version of SilverFast SE Plus 8 (SF-8.0.1r22(Plustek)_x64.exe). Unfortunately, it will still not run/load.
I get the same "not supported" error message.

Mo Betta!

After wiping my computer, twice, and then re-downloading the Plustek file mentioned previously, I was able to re-install the Plustek software/drivers.

AND! BEST OF ALL!

"NEWEST" software (SF-8.0.1r24(Plustek)_x64.exe)(dated 30APR13, Hey, that's today!) installed correctly! WOO HOO!
I still had to disable the signature enforcement business, but at last SUCCESS!

Thanks to all at LaserSoft Imaging for their work to correct Microsofts' mistake!
