I've installed Silverfast 8 SE PLUS for my film scanner (Reflecta ProScan 7200) on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) desktop PC.
SF8 shows a strange behaviour: clicking on user interface buttons, drop downs etc results in actions taking a long time, the windows frame header shows "no reply" for many seconds. In contrary looking into my Windows Task Manager I see no actions there, processor usage of less than 10% during the waiting time.
This is suprising as I'm using SilverFast 6.6 for my flat bed scanner (Canon 9000F) on the same PC - without any latency.
As working with SF8 was really boring I installed it on my notebook computer, also with Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) - and there it runs without any latency.
The only relevant difference between my desktop and my notebook I can think of is the graphic card and its driver:
- desktop: ATI FirePro V3750 workstation graphic card with latest ATI drivers
- notebook: built in Intel HD 4000 graphic processor with latest drivers.
Could it be the case that SF8 does not work well with workstation graphic cards?
Thanks for any hint on this.
Michael

Re: SF8 problem with graphic card driver?
Dear Michael,
There is a known issue with some older drivers.
But an up to date driver should not cause these.
Did you maybe calibrate your monitor?
Some tools (like the Windows integrated calibration) do not produce standard conform icc profiles.
These profiles cause an issue in our rendering algorithm.
Our developers are currently adapting SilverFast to correct this.
We will soon issue an update.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: SF8 problem with graphic card driver?
Dear Arne
I have updated my ATI driver in December have its latest version on my PC.
Is there a way to create a standardized version of the ICC profile? How to check if an ICC profile follows the required standard(s)?
Ok, I wait for the SF8 update.
thanks,
Michael

Re: SF8 problem with graphic card driver?
Dear Michael,
normally you can download a standard profile from the display manufacturer.
The profile is selected in the Graphics card settings.
So this varies but should be decribed in your graphics card manual.
The setting is mostly easy to find on your own.
Open the display settings by right-clicking an empty desktop area and selecting properties from the context menu.
In the tab where you set the resolution you will find the button to open the extended settings for the graphics card.
The required panel is normally called display but this might vary.
