Win7 64bit Install Problem

Postby ID10T Wrangler » Fri Nov 09, 2012 6:09 pm

Hi

Apologies if this has been asked before, I have perused the threads and cant see my issue replicated.

We have recently purchased an Epson Expression 1000XL A3 flatbed scanner, which was bundled with Silverfast Ai (version 6.61r2b).

I have installed the software on a Windows PC (Win 7 64 bit) and serialised it with an admin account. No problems. However when any of our users log on to the same machine & launch Silverfast, the program returns to the serialisation dialogue, and we have to put the installer CD back into the machine and unlock the application again. This happens with each subsequent log in, even if we have already unlocked the application for the given user perviously. It's impractical for our users to have to keep coming to me to get the CD each time they need to scan, and we have a large number of them (300+) so I'm also concerned about eventual loss or damage of the installer. I've spoken to our technicians about this who say the issue is due to the way Win 7 handles profiles (the machine authenticates to a 2010 server domain). They say they can do nothing about this and have referred me here for advice.

If anyone has a workaround for this I'd be very grateful.

First make sure you install the latest update 6.6.2r5.
The version 6.6.1 is not fully adjusted to Windows 7 64bit.

Also check your security software.
Many products protect the system folders and do not allow the placing of the serialization files.
This often happens without any feedback to the user.
Try temporarily deactivating your security software during the serialization.
Make sure the users access local user folders.
The serialization is placed in a local folder and will not automatically be available if network based user accounts are being used.

kind regards,
