LaserSoft Imaging

I have a Veho VFS-004 USB slide scanner - not the most sophisticated piece of equipment I've ever owned, but it does the job (I'm digitising my old holiday slides). It comes bundled with Photoimpression 6 which is used to carry out monitoring and adjustment of the scanner settings and importing the images to the PC. The only problem is that Photoimpression is a bit of a blunt weapon and leaves quite a bit to be desired. Is there any way I can use my Silverfast (Epson 8ba ver. 6.6.0r5) application instead, and if so how?
