Is SilverFast all I need for a driver

I switched from my old G3 to my current G4 some years after first purchasing the Umax Astra 6400. After all this time, I can't find the original disc containing the driver. On my old G3 system, I had to switch to classic screen, make my scans, then switch back to OSX to utilize Photoshop. Is it necessary to have the original Astra 6400 driver installed on my G4 before SilverFast will work, or can I install SilverFast and have it function as the driver? Since I can't find the software to install the driver, I can't use the scanner on the G4 in any mode, but before I plunk down $50 for your software, I'd like to know what to expect and what's needed to be able to use my scanner on the G4. Thank You

Well, if it's taken this long for a non-response, I can only presume the worst and since I really need a scanner ASAP I have purchased a new scanner. I am still curious to know the answer to my query as I intend to sell the UMAX scanner. Thank you

THe demo is fully functional so you can test the theory. If you had to load the driver previously, i doubt that has changed since you have to apparently run in classic mode.

please download the demo version of SilverFast for free from our web site and give it a try. If you encounter problems, then please download the Umax software from their web site, in addition.
