MAJOR speed problems all of a sudden...

I just purchased the full version of SilverFast 6.4
and I'm having some MAJOR speed issues with my scanner
suddenly. I'm a POwerlook 1000 user and I used to use MagicScan but now that's not working because I upgraded my Mac OS to 10.4.5 and
MagicScan doens't work with that OS. Thus I bought
SilverFast and now scans that used to take 30 seconds
to a minute with MagicScan take 10 to 12 minutes with
SilverFast and I'm using the exact same settings --
dpi, JPEG resolution, descreening and everything. I
can't believe this is what I paid for. Please tell me
that I'm missing something. Does anyone have any ideas? I do a LOT of scanning and archiving of old newspapers and magazines so suddenly having software that takes 20 times longer than it used to is a BIG headache. Any help is appreciated.

As a first step you should download and install the latest version of SilverFast for your scanner. If you are still having problems after that I recommend contacting LaserSoft Technical Support.

I believe I do have the latest version -- it's 6.4.3r8. I guess I'll have to contact them and see. I'm glad to know that's not normal so maybe something could be done about it. I was dreading someone saying "Well, that's how all our scanners on SilverFast are".

For your information version 6.4.3r9 will be available for download in the near future. They are in the process of updating downloads for the various scanner models.
