Hi,
anyone out there using a Powerlook 3000 with SF 5.5.0r09 under WinME with Photoshop 6.01?
Please tell me,wether it works,because mine does not.
Anyone using WinXP with PL 3000?

You can use the Powerlook 3000 with SF 5.50r09 under Win ME and Win XP, but you can either use MagicScan or SilverFast.
If you like to use SilverFast: first install MagicScan . Remove the ud32.dll from your folder Windows and install SilverFast. Silverfast will install a new ud32.dll - Version 3.1.0.0. This will only work with SilverFast, not with MagicScan. Under Win XP it is the same. There is no difference which kind of firmware you will use for the PowerLook ( 2.0 / 2.1 ) - Christoph Sperling

Hi Christoph,the way you described installing doesn`t work at all for me.I only can get SF to work,if I install MagicScan AFTER I installed SF.And if I don`t install MagicScan,SF doesn`t find my scanner at all.Next problem:I downloaded 5.5.1r04.Now my IT8 calibration is gone.I mean,I cannot find the button for calibration anymore!Third problem:Umax told me to buy firmware 2.2,because it is designed especially for WinXP.But this firmware seems not to work with SF. 5.5.0r06 is working,but as soon as I use 5.5.0r09 or 5.5.1r04,the only thing I can do,is a prescan.After that,SF is importing a white "picture" into Photoshop.The scan is stopping after some seconds.Now Umax told me,that lasersoft still doesn`t have firmware 2.2.That`s really great,man!After I put it in my scanner,what took me more than 1 hour,I cannot use Silverfast anymore.I don`t know exactely,how many times I?ve posted to this forum,why I just get white "pictures" with SF.Maybe seven times,but no answer until now!So would you please be so kind and tell me the reason?And where is IT8 gone?

I`m using 5.5.2r02 at the moment.
At least I got SF 5.5.2r02 to work under WinMe(even without Magicscan).But
there is a speed problem.Until 5.5.0r06 a 24/36mm scan (DOR mode)
took about 2 min(without calibrating and focussing time) with firmware 2.0.
Now it only takes 50 sec with firmware 2.0 and only 25 sec with firmware 2.2!
That cannot be the way it`s supposed to work!Look at the shadows,you get
MORE NOISE.You really should take a close look at this strange speed-behaviour!
(I set scan to slow,of course,in the options).
Under XP I cannot get 5.5.2r02 to work at all,with or without Magicscan.
I always get an error message "cannot send `set window` ".What`s really strange:
5.5.0r06 does work under XP!What did you change since that version,that 5.5.2r02 doesn`t work and if it does,that it is so
fast(and bad)?
I`ve been trying to get an answer from lasersoft since about 3 months concerning that strange speed behaviour from the support or the forum.Why isn`t anybody telling me anything about that?I still have to use the old 5.5.0r06-version.All newer ones just RACE through the scan(with worse quality)or don`t work at all(5.5.0r02/XP).The only choice I have is to use 5.5.0r06,if I want to use XP and give up all the newer features.On the other hand I can`t imagine,that the old version is XP-compatible and the new one is not.I also tried a UD32.dll-file from your support,it didn`t change anything.I didn`t hear anything again,since I replied to your support,that it doen`t work.
It`s really frustrating to repeat the same problems so many times to this forum without getting any response,just take a look at "new features wishlist-I want a working model".
