I have not seen anyone mention this model anywhere, so i'll ask... any chance of getting support for the 2200 and mac os x ? Or perhaps as i've seen with some other products, this scanner goes by a different number in other countries???
thanks

umax astra 2200 (usb) and panther
Dear customer,
the Astra 2200 is just tested on USB and works fine wit the latest AI.
My only tip is after updating from 10.2.8 is to delete Silverfast completely. And make a new install with the latest version.
kind regards

thank you for your prompt reply... i did not see the 2200 in the list of scanners supported .... and exactly which one do i need to buy?? ai??
Dear Customer,
first of all, we are hardly testing to provide full OSX 10.3 support,
so the official updates on the website need a little more time.
Maybe it would be worth trying first the demo for the Astra 2200:
http://www.silverfast.com/sf-download/337/demo/en.html
to check out, if Panther isn't a problem to your setup and later on...
...off course I prefer Ai, if you want the whole 48 Bit, once you are into the software you want to get the best out of it.
There are many posts of users on the web talking about going with Ai from the start instead of using SE.
But you have to decide what satisfies your needs.
Download the latest version for OSX - and enjoy
