Hi,

I just read about the Silverfast DC-Pro plug in for Photoshop and downloaded the demo.

I own a 1Ds and a 10D and now there is the problem that DC-Pro does make very quick a preview of the 1Ds *.TIF (RAW) file but not from the 10D *.CRW file.

I have to click on every 10D to get a preview and this is not acceptable because I have to click on hundread of images to see what I want to see

or did I overlook something? somewhere?

best regards Rainer

Dear Mr. Ehlert,

the problem ist, that you only copied the *.CRW Files to your Harddisk, but the 10D stores the "fast-access" Thumbnails in extra Files ( *.THM ).

So the solution is one of these two actions:

-1- if you still have the original data, just add the *.THM Files to the directory where you store the *.CRW Files and everything will work fine.

-2- if you don*t have te original *.THM Files, then just drag all the *.CRW Files that you want to work with into an Album.
If Raw Files are dragged into an Album they will be automatically batch converted, just be sure that the path that is set in The options Menu is set to a Harddisk with a lot free space, and that the Cache Space Parameter is set to a high value... ( approximately 40 MByte per Image is needed after the conversion from Raw to a "normal" Image ).
After each image is converted ( There are two progress Bars giving you the individual & total progress ) the Thumbnail is generated !

Please let me know if you still run into problems.

Hi Nils,

I have tried it and yes I see them now as thumbnail, but it works good when there are not many photos in a album.

Well that is a possibility but I use to take only *.RAW and *.CRW images. I am interested in getting as much photos as possible on my Memory Card and therefore I do not record *.JPG and *.THM files on my 1Ds as well as 10D.

The opening of the 1Ds files as RAW *.TIF files is good but why is it not possible to do the same in this case for the RAW *.CRW of the 10D?

Both files, independently from the file suffix are RAW files.

best regards Rainer

Rainer,

The 1Ds tif files are not the same as TIFF or TIF. Why canon chose this designation is a mystery. For the Canon 10D the THM files are created automatically by the camera. They are very small. There no way for you to disable the feature and so not record them. THM files are NOT JPEG thye are thumbnails awith some additional data specific to the image that helps Canon sotware and apparently DCPro quickly display info on the image.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for clarifying this misunderstanding from my side.

Let me play around a little bit more so I can take a decision.

best regards

Dear Rainer,

we just added the ability to load and display thumbnails for CRW files without the additional THM files. It will be included in the next release (610r3 or higher). So please be patient...
