I'm currently trying to figure out the optimal workflow for a large scanning job. I have a Nikon Coolscan LS5000 and would like to use the NikonScan software to obtain the 48bit TIFF raw scans (setting gamma to 1.0 while disabling Nikon color mismanagement) for archival purposes. Is this the right way to obtain the raw scans from NikonScan?

I then plan to use SilverFast HDR for processing these raw scans.

Is there anyway I can then assign the slide specific LS5000 profile to the raw image to be scanned with SF HDR. I've got the ICC file via a raw scan of an IT-8 target and the Little CMS. Can I select this in the ICM input field? How do I get it to show up there?

In the demo version I also couldn't figure out how to batch scan raw files and output 48bit tiffs (when adding raw images from the VLT to the JobManager it always does 24bit, even if 48bit is selected in the image mode).

I'm also cannot see howto select the output color space (e.g. Adobe RGB or ProPhoto RGB) for the output files.

Not knowing if Nikonscan does allow for setting a gamma of 1.0, please note that SilverFast HDR can be set (> Options > General) to expect different gamma values for HDR images, if necessary.

Again, I cannot tell whether you can configure Nikonscan accordingly, but certainly in SilverFast HDR's (> Options >) CMS settings you can adjust the LaserSoft Imaging software to your likes.

You cannot use the the raw directly as an ICC profile. You could use SilverFast HDR's IT8 calibration option to make use of your raw to generate an ICC input profile. The IT8 calibration feature is an extra option for the HDR version and may or may not be present in your version.

SilverFast HDR works with image in file format, and doesn't access scanners to deliver images from CCDs. You want to use SilverFast Ai for that purpose.
