hi,
i'm trying to optimize my workflow with hdr. so, scanning all slides with silverfast ai in raw mode and then process them with hdr. since with mounting the slides there may be a small degree of misorientation, why isn't it possible to rotate the raw files in small angles, so i can make the right selection?
any help is appreciated.

this is a long standing request. based on history, it's not going to happen; at least for the forseeable future.

Yes, that?s an old story. We have been discussing this feature many times in the company and tried to find a solution.

Our president called me yesterday and gave this feature a much higher priority.

to be fair, minute rotation of images would probably significantly affect the quality of the scanned image. I suspect that Lasersoft would only implement this capability if they were able to develop a high-quality method of doing so; not an easy thing to do.

i understand that there might be some quality issues, but since the image has to be rotated anyway due to misorientation - why not in silverfast. at least, i always have the raw data to re-process the images anyway. so, during the scan the highest possible quality would be reserved.

Probably easier to implement a detection scheme in preview that would alert the user to the skew problem and then optionally activate the "tapper circuit" to correct the skew of the transparancy

i don't know of a mathematical way to do the arbitrary rotation of a bit map image without averaging pixels and decreasing the quality of the image. Maybe if the image was convertied to fractals or the like at high bit depth you could get away with it if the enlargement was not too severe.
