HDR calibration question re-phrased

Since there is no IT-8 calib. button in HDR as there is in Ai - to calibrate for HDR - If you set the Ai scan Mode to 48 bitHDR Colour(RAW) and scan the IT-8 target (with my Sprintscan 120 I was supplied with the C-ROES slide) and then go through the IT-8 calibration, you end up with a file SF_T(Polaroid SS120).icm in the Windows>System>Color folder.

Is this calib file also good for Ai to access/use when scanning normal 24 bit or 16 bit col - For use when you are Not scanning RAW files.

Or should the IT-8 calibration be run twice, once for Ai(in 24bit) and once for HDR(in 48bit HDR). resulting in 2 different calib. files in the Windows>System>Color folder ?

You can use the icm Profile also in SilverFast Ai. SilverFast HDR work with the same data (raw data) liek the AI would do, so there is no difference. Be aware, that you select the correct Gamma in SilverFast HDR (the same you use in SilverFast Ai), so the profile is correct for this.

Is there any difference between using a 24bit RGB file and a 48 bit RGB file for the raw data for IT8 calibration in HDR ?

You need to use 48bit HDR, so no colorcorrection (even Gamma) is made in this file. Else you could get different pictures.

So, does the IT8 profiling module in Ai use 24 bit data or 48 bit data (assuming the scanner support 48 bit) ?

To generate the Profile, SilverFast uses the gamma corrected Rawdata from the scanner. 48 bit at normal.
