Viewscan RAW -> SilverFast HDR

I need to save RAW scans with v**s**n, then work on them with SilverFast HDR (I won't use SilverFast SE/Ai as they don't support Minolta).

When I open the RAW scan with SilverFast HDR, I get a magenta cast in the preview. Once I make the final scan and import it under Photoshop, I get a spit match with the preview I had in SilverFast HDR, therefore there is still that magenta cast.

I have experimented a lot with both v**s**n and SilverFast HDR color settings, with no better result.

Anybody could advise on the appropriate color management settings to be used, both for v**s**n (while I am taking the RAW file) and for SilverFast HDR (when I open the RAW and make the final scan)?

Thank you for any help.

Raw Data processing with SilverFast HDR and Minolta Scanner

Please send us a raw data file 5 MB large from your scanner and we will look into that problem.

Send your file to:

Here is a related question:

Some users prefer v**s**n (for whatever personal reason) to AI. Is there any reason the quality would be better or worse by using either of the following two workflows FOR NEGATIVES:
1) ViewScan 48bit Raw>SF HDR
2) SF AI 48bit HDR output>HDR?

Thanks

Raw files from Ai and HDR and Raw files from v**s**n and HDR

For whatever reason the raw scans from v**s**n must be different from those that we generate with SF Ai.

Also there is a unique benefit when you produce raw data with SilverFast Ai, especially when data is beyond 30 MB , her you will get HiRePP.

With HiRePP (High resolution picture performance) you will be able to open a 1 GB file in only 1 Second in HDR!

Thanks you for your reply.

Yes HiRePP soulds very useful. I understand you can add this to existing scans. Does this include scans from other manufacturers?

Also, will DCPro support Nikon's 48bit raw format called NEF? If so, will post processing with CDPro be the same as HDR is with TIFF raw files? In otherwords, is there any drawback to NEF scans and post processing with the applicable SF product?

Thank you very much!

HiRePP, SilverFast DCPro and NEF-Format

Yes you can add HiRepp to raw scans from other manufacturers by passing files through SilverFast HDR or DCPro.

Yes, SilverFast DCPro will also support the Nikon NEF format.

Yes, post-pocessing with DCPro will be the same as with HDR.

GREAT!! When?

...final question (maybe) :P

Is there any strong reason I should not scan in 48bit NEF for post processing in DCPro vs the other options? Intuitively, it would seem logical to use the scanner manufacturer's raw format over any other format.

Thanks again
