HDR 6 Failures

I have just ugraded from 5.5.x to 6 and am having 2 major headaches.

The 1st one is the most serious. Whenever I attempt to do a 6 color (have not tried 12) selective correction, my computer freezes completely. I have to shut off my computer in order to regain control. I can use the other facets of HDR without complication. Are you using some sort of control to shut down processor 1 in a dual (W2K) system? The reason I ask is because I have to go into my bios and set my processor parameters every time this freeze occurs. This is a very stable system and has been in use for several months. HDR 5.5.x did not cause this problem.

The 2nd one is a quality issue. When I use HDR 6 to take my D60 files from 72 to 500 dpi and crop to an 8x10 the files look the same as in 5.5.x. However when I try to make the same files go from 72 to 500 and make the image 10x18, the resultant image is very contrasty, the colors are blocked up and their is a great deal of banding in the image. Once again, 5.5.x did not cause this problem. There is not any issue with system resources and my settings are the same from the older version what is happening?

I will need to reinstall the old version at this rate, I cannot work. I need either some help or my money returned.

Thanks

I put an example of the banding at http://www.pic-man.com/thumbs/HDR/

The files are of course reduced to jpgs but are still over 100K The banding and blocking is still quite evident in the HDR6 scan. The HDR5 scan is the lower image.

Dear Darren,

until now, only some SilverFast Ai versions for Nikon scanners use only one of the two processors because there was a problem using multiple threads on two processors.

You are the first one to report a problem in the HDR version. Moreover, no threads are used in the selective color correction.

As far as the banding problem is concerned. I can just say that it looks pretty strange.

So it would be great if you could send a mail to our support (support@silverfast.de), where you would describe precisely your problem (the best being to attach your prefs folder). In fact, we need everything that can enable us to reproduce the bug. For the "2 processors" problem, it would be nice to know exactly when your computer crashes.

Best regards.
