hi,
i am having a couple of film scanning issues:
1 - even after calibrating silverfast Ai Studio 6.6.2r4a with a new kodachrome it8 target, the scans have a "blue-ish" cast.
2 - film negatives, b&w and color, appear over-exposed; they require a -3 setting on the Negafix exposure control.
hope someone has some ideas...

Dear Jon,

For your Kodachromes try using the "H-S Cast" image type.
There are several Kodachrome films and some require a more intensive color cast removal.

Make sure the scanframe for your negatives is exactly placed around the image content.
In case there is any unexposed film material inside the scanframe the automatic will not work correctly.

Hi,
Haven't tried the Kodachrome test yet.
I did try the negative suggestion and it didn't help; made sure all of the scan frame was inside the negative borders.
However, I did set the gamma to 1 (from 2.2) and that really made a difference; they were not nearly so overexposed.
Is this what I am supposed to do for negatives?

The correct Gamma mainly depends on your used display system.

Current Macs and PCs use a gamma of 2.2.
Older Mac systems use a gamma of 1.8.

A gamma of 1 would be an unadjusted value.

In case you are using our ArchiveSuite workflow make sure you did not activate the gamma for HDR setting in your SilverFast Scansoftware or tell SilverFast HDR which gamma to expect.
These options can be found in the options general tab of each software.

For HDR output is NOT checked.
And the overexposed scans, only with negatives, occurs during prescan as well as in the final scan.
Do you folks have an i900 that you can try this on?
