Can't scan color negatives properly with i900

I just got an i900 scanner to replace my old E6 because I wanted to scan color negatives. Anyway, using ScanWizard Pro 7.0 that came with the scanner, I'm unable to get the scanner to properly scan the negatives. Instead of looking like a normal photo, the scan looks like a bunch of pastel looking colors that aren't even close to what the photo should look like. I've seen reviews of the i900 that supposedly show the result of scanning a color negative and it looks like a normal photo. What am I doing wrong? I did install the scanner software, etc. in the precise order that Microtek's quick start guide instructed. (I'm scanning 2-1/4 format color negatives using the large "glass holder" since the film holders aren't for this size negatives.)

Thanks for any assistance. I'm beginning to think I should've just bought a film scanner.

Well, it seems that the Microtek ScanWizard itself can't do the job despite it showing a selection for "negatives". I finally decided to install the SilverFast Ai program that came with the scanner (the quick start said nothing about having to install any other programs except ScanWizard) and when I tried a prescan with it configured for negatives, it came out beautifully!

I have another question but I'll post it separately.

Dear gfuchikami,

hint: please try the various NegaFix-Film-Profiles to find the one best fitting your negatives.

Best regards,
