I use the Demo of Silverfast 5.5 with PS6.0, Windows 2000 and the Mikrotec Artixscan4000 with the APS- Feeder to get a feeling, how good is this new upgrade. I added one picture form the overview window to the job, then I selected 4 pictures from the image overview dialog and add them to th job. I changed in to the Editmode and try to copy the adjusted scanparameters from the first picture to the other 4 pictures. It works without the size of the Scanwindow. After I start the job, only the first picture was scanned 5 times. What was going wrong?

Same problem with my Nikon LS4000,Slide feeder SF200, Win XP, SF 5.2.r08, and Photoshop 6.0.1 - The batch scan function scans the same slide over and over again.

Looking forward to a response from the good people at LaserSoft.

Thanks for a - otherwise - great product.

When using Job Manager you should NOT use Batch Scan. You simply prescan the image in the normal way, lodge in Job Manager, apply the edits and move onto the next image repeating the above process. Each image has its own edits and will be treated in that manner. Batch Scan menas EVERY image is edit using the same same parameters or none at all (you choose).

Thanks for your answer. Now I've tried to follow your excellent SilverFast tutorial on Batch Scanning.

However, I don't succeed in getting even one scan into my computer.

This is what I do.
1. I load the 'film carrier' before I start SF. I actually load the SF200 slide feeder, then open Nikon Scan 3.1 and have it order the slide feeder to take a slide into the scanner. Why? because without this procedure Silverfast doesn't even want to make a scan or take in a slide, but will give me a "can't focus" error.

2. So the first slide is loaded. I do a preview.

3. All frames are loaded so they will display vertically.

4. From 'General' I select 'Batch Scan(File)'. Then 'Document Feeder'. I get asked the maximum number of ADF-scans and answer 50.

5. From 'Frame' I select 'option' then 'Auto' them 'Automatic when ADF'. I then select no filter and Statndard image type.

6. I start the batch scan and the scanner begins to hum - focusses, determines exposure etc. and I get to the RGB: Tiff Batch Scan dialog/window where a bar fills up as a thumbnail of the photo appears. When the whole thumbnail is displayed - everything stops. No contact with the dialog or with Photoshop. When I click on cancel, nothing happens. When I click on Photoshop, Windows XP tells me that it is not responding. I end up having to force quit. Every time.

I belive I've followed your steps from the tutorial as closely as possible. I hope you or someone else can tell me what is wrong.

This same problem happens with the SA 21, there is some bug in the software, it has nothing to do with the settings.

You can try doing prescans and final scanswithout any rotation.

I phoned with Clovis Kohler just 1 hour back about this problem, hope to get a response.
With the SA 21 there is no problem at all with Nikon Scan, same with the SF 200?

Thanks for information and help. I'm looking forward to hear a solution to the problem which must affect many users.

Would the following be a good solution?

1. Do an IT8 calibration in SF, then export the profile.

2. Batch Scan in NikonScan without any colormanagement given that the SF slidefeeding software for SF200 doesn't work.

3. Impose the profile on the scans in Photoshop.

4. Continue the color correction in Silverfast HDR and/or Photoshop.

What do you think?

Does anyone use SF for Nikon 4000 and SF200, Win XP or Win 2000 with succes?
