Lamp control for firewire Microtek 8700???

I just installed SilverFast Microtek 6.0.2r08 on my mac running 10.2.5. I can't seem to find the lamp control. It should exist, how do I get to it?

Lamp control is a feature that requires hardware support. The
Microtek 8700 unfortunately does not allow to control the brightness of the lamp (or the duration of the exposure during scanning).

All I am trying to do is turn the lamp off. At the moment, Silverfast turns the lamp on and leaves it on forever. The software that came with the scanner can turn the lamp off when not scanning to save the life of the lamp.
