troubles with 8700 and sharpening/precsan with firewire

Hi,
We have purchased a microtek scanmaker 8700 inGermany with scanmaker 6 and firewire.
With version 61r28(microit8) for photoshop 7 plugin we had the trouble that it would not scan while sharpening. Without sharpening it scanned fine.
Now with the new version 1r36a(microit8) it cannot scan at all anymore. It says: error in scanstart, cannot calibrate scanner.

Of course Microtec scanwizard 5 works fine, but we did not buy scanmaker with it for nothing.

Any ideas what si going on? Does lasersoft not test its software ? I would like a version that works for a change!

greetings

switch off ScanWizzard's "scanner finder" (next to your system's clock).
Delete your scan frame in preview (waste bin button).
If nothing helps, contact LSI support

Hi,

what do you mean with delete your scanfram in preview exactly???

An update om what works and what not: I installed scanwizard 5 again (the european version, had the usa version before), and then re-installed silverfast 61r28(microit8). Most things now work including sharpening. It only froze this time after a couple fo scans and not right away after the first scan.
We are also asking microtek of course, but this does not explain why 61r36a does not work (tried to reinstall with that too.).

You should get an update for SilverFast anyway, please contact support@silverfast.de

I am seeing similar problems with my Microtek ScanMaker 5700.

The current version of SF Ai (Microtek) is 6.0.1r35. Can we expect an update soon?

Could I also ask for verification. Should I install ScanWizard before installing SF? Or can I install SF on its own?

New versions 601r42 (Micro) & (MicroIT8) for Windows will be available soon.

Yes, one needs to install ScanWizard which contains the drivers.

The "Scanner Finder" from ScanWizard MUST be switched off (in the "task bar" at the bottom right near the clock). Otherwise the communication between SilverFast and the scanner is disturbed.

will there be new releases for the Mac OS too?

I can turn off the Scanner Finder on Mac OS 9 by disabling it in the Extensions Manager. Something in the Microtek installation launches the Scanner Finder at login every time regardless of the login user. It really bothered me so I stuffed it into an archive.
