LaserSoft Imaging

I have a collection of hundreds of snapshots with a matte finish. This is not a regular pattern, e.g. fishscales. This is an irregular, rough surface. I use an Epson V700 scanner and SilverFast AI 6.6.2r5 and 8, on a MacBook Pro. The matte finish produces hundreds of tiny speckles in the image from the scanner's light reflecting off the matte. These can be cloned away by hand, but not for hundreds of snapshots. Photoshop's Despeckle or Dust filters can remove the spots, but make the image too blurry.

Are there any techniques or tricks in SilverFast to handle these spots?

Dear customer,

You can try the SRD scratch and dust removal.
If you limit it to white defects it will only remove those spots.
You will probably have to do some trial and error search for the correct settings however.
But it should allow you to remove them.
SRD also offers the possibility to create masks to prevent the removal of delicate structures which might otherwise be removed.
