A client of mine asked me to scan a microfiche of documents and then print out each image as a 8 1/2 x 11 printout.
The microfiche is about 4x5" in overall but there are 50 small documents on it. I am using a epson 1680 pro with silverfast and transparency adapter. regardless of how high a resolution I go i cannot get it clear enough to read the smaller type. The client says he has seen printouts from them done at a library. Is there anything else to try?

Dear Sdavidowitz,
when you scan the 4x5 image in a high resolution, you must then set the zoom factor of your image processing software to 100%.
If this is not enough, then you should not only select a high resolution but also should you determine the scan output scale to more than 100% (for example 200% or even more) depending on how small these microfish documents are.
Once digitalized, always view the image in 100% (or actual pixels) mode in your image processing software.
