how to select single pass scan?

Postby polly » Thu Jun 14, 2012 5:20 am

I have Silverfast v 6.6.2r5 and scanner CanoScan 8400F, OS 10.6.8.

I am new to this scanner software and just cannot find how to scan using a single pass. For simple scans it takes far too long to have to wait for 4 passes which it is currently doing. (When I used the Canon scanning software [which doesn't now work with my OS] it only used one pass)

Can somebody please give me a step-by-step of how to select single pass scanning?

Thanks!

Dear Polly,

Several functions in SilverFast require additional scans.
iSRD needs an infrared scan for the automatic scratch and dust removal.
MultiExposure requires a second high exposure scan.
The (now outdated) MultiSampling can be set for up to 16 scans to reduce noise. (however the 2 MultiExposure scans offer better noise reduction than 16 MultiSampling scans).

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thanks Arne,

But I just want to scan a simple document, fast! Just need one pass. How do I set the software up to do one pass? The scanner's original software did that, but now, using Silverfast I can't.

Please advise,

Thanks.

Dear Polly,

SilverFast only makes more than one scan if an according feature is activated.

Please check the options I mentioned and deactivate them if active.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
