I want my scans as big as they can be while still retaining the highest quality. They will be for archiving purposes but mostly just for viewing on a computer/ipad screen.
I saw in a Silverfast Quicktime movie that the colors in the resolution slider refer to optical, nominal and interpolated resolution. I understand optical and interpolated resolution but the size I want to scan at falls in the "nominal" resolution area. On my scanner the nominal resolution settings are:
3200 dpi
4213 x 2841 pixels
What exactly is "nominal" resolution? Is there any reason I should not use this setting with my scanner?
Thanks!
