Washed Out Scans

I have a Plustek OpticFilm 7600i and Silver Fast 8 software. I was scanning some negatives that are 25 years old. During prescan the image looked fair to OK, but the final scan is the image is washed out. These negatives are very sentimental. If any one has a suggestion....I open to any ideas. Thank you in advance
