Silverfast 8 Multiscan

Postby renesisx » Mon Nov 28, 2011 7:00 am

Every time I post about this the topic never shows up. I don't know if LaserSoft are censoring my posts to make sure users don't find out about this?

It looks like multi-scan for reflective scans has been removed from Silverfast v8. I e-mailed support and they confirmed this.

I asked why it has been removed. That was 2 months ago, and again, no reply.

Silverfast support is terrible :(

Does anyone know why they might have removed this feature?

Also - once you upgrade you can not use your old serial number, so you can not install the old version and get this feature back.

Hello Mr Bocock

I am afraid, I have quite the opposite opinion.

SilverFast support is a service free of charge, which is something very rare this days. Besides you actually get an answer from LaserSoft Imaging support (even if it might take a little longer than your own expectations). I would like you to try support free of charge at huge companies with big financial muscle like Adobe, Microsoft, etc.

I have checked our support system for tickets with your email address and in fact I found two of them, all of them have been answered within a relatively short period of time (considering our high amount of support requests).

In fact, the one concerning the issue of Multi-Sampling and your specific question was answered twice on October the 12th at 14:46 hours by my colleague from support, I quote:

Dear Mr Bocock

Multi Sampling is not included in SilverFast 8 because all tests had the result that
Multi Exposure is doing the same (not technical but in the scan results, they are
better).

As my colleague mentioned, Multi-Exposure does a better job. The dynamic range on reflective material is relatively small especially on the dark areas which makes the use of this feature superfluous .

It is correct, you have a license for one product, SilverFast 6,6 and SilverFast 8 are two different products.

How do you downgrade? I want to go back to 6.6.

Hi there

No, you do not, it is not possible to buy SilverFast 6.6 for those scanners supported in SF8

If you have the CD you might install and serialize the software using the CD.

Kind regards
