wide trans vs trans

I just started using an Epson v750 with Silverfast 8 Studio to scan 2 1/4 x 10 inch panoramic negatives. I am putting them directly on the platen, flattened with anti newton ring glass. On Epson Scan, there is a setting for Negative with Holder, and Negative with Film Area Guide. I'm assuming this has to do with the proper focus of the lenses and the distance between glass and negative. Is there any such distinction on Silverfast 8 Studio? Do I really need to make that distinction? I was thinking that maybe wide transparency setting might be what I need.
Thank you for your help.

Hi there

Your assumptions are correct.

SilverFast 8 also has this two different focusing and scanning levels:

-Transparency which is to be used with film holders
-Wide transparency which is to be used with your originals placed directly onto the scanner glass

Cheers

That's good to know. I was wondering about that as well.
