Printers. Laserjet vs Inkjet

Hi,
I am looking to buy a good printer that will produce good quality photographs.

I see that most discussions talk about inkjet. Is there an inherent problem with using a laserprinters? Currently i have an HP 2900n laserjet, which is a terrific office printer, but it is now a couple years old.

Any suggestions or thoughts appreciated. I am just starting to learn about IT-8 calibration, to get true colors out of a printer.

Thanks,

Jack,

Dear Jack,

in general inkjets are capable of producing a wider variety of colors than laser printers.
(This may of cause vary with individual devices.)

Thanks. My research seems to support this. Now I am looking for a good quality pro printer. I found the Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II or the Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Ink Jet Printer Designer Edition, or the Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Inkjet Printer Are these good choices? Any suggestions that i should look at? Are there are other comparable sized printers i should be looking at?

Thanks for your help and guidance
Regards,

Jack

For the PrinterCalibration it is only important that you can switch off the internal color management.
