Hi,

I've the following problem:

1. I scanned thousands of colour slides
2. all images includes a special scanner profile A
3. now I created a better profile B specific for my scanner with an IT8 slide

Questions:

How do I convert the images from A to B?

Is the direct conversion reasonable?

Do I have to convert the image "back" to original without any profile included and than "include" profile B into the image ?

Can anybody help me with a - Photoshop 7? - specific workflow?

Or can I just replace in Photoshop the included profile A with B and convert afterwards from B to Adobe (1998)?

thx in advance
Bernd

When you say the images contain a special Profile A - do you mean the image Profile remains the embedded profile or did you subsequently convert them to something else? Tyically you Assign a device profile not Convert to it. In fact you cannot convert to an Input device profile.

The correct workflow depends upon your answer to the question I asked above. If the image has Profile A embedded then you simply go to the Image>Mode>Assign Profile menu option in Photoshop 7 and Assign Profile B in lieu of A. You can then use Image>Mode>Convert to Profile menu option to convert the image from Profile B to Adobe RGB (1998).

If your old images have already been converted to Adobe RGB (1998) then it is a really BAD idea to change things - leave them alone!!
