Help! Automatic RGB with SilverFast SE

Hi all,
I'm kinda new in this, but I've been scanning a few films for the past few weeks.
I'm having huge problems with old negatives. Every time I scan a negative (I have a Plustek 7500i), I try and set the auto-RGB function to
"Lanscape". But often this settings is not good, making the photo looks too "white" or too dark.
Is there a way to optimize this, or at least a way to see the results on the prescan? I don't find any feature to see the actual colors inside Silverfast.
Thank you

Actually you see the result of the Landscape filter applied directly on the prescan
Cheers

thank you, in fact I was scanning as a positive because I didn't get very good results, but it seems it was mostly because I was kind of new in how to operate the software.
I see it is necessary to find the right film type in order to get a good negative scan. Is there a some guide on how to do that?
Thanks again

Just to emphasize:
I tried a negative scan (with negafix) instead of a positive. The settings are mostly "auto", with 2400 DPI, ISRD on.
I used 2 passes (multipass) for both. (with the plustek 7500i).
The colors in the negative scan look better. But the final result of the scan is MUCH worse - as you can see in the
attached photos. I just can't find a proper
way to scan the negative and get such a crisp, bright and clear result from it.
Negative scan:

Positive scan - as you can see it's so much more detailed... the colors are too greenish, but everything is so crisp!

Hi there,
Before applying any of the other filters, when scanning negatives you should try using the CCR tool in NegaFix combined with the Auto-Tolerance.

Moving the slider to the right will help a more accurate detection of the orange mask
Deactivating Multi-Exposure might also help.
Cheers

Thanks, after playing with the brightness in the Negafix feature I get much better results.
It would be nice though if you had a "reset settings" button for Negafix - it's hard to reset the auto tolerance just by looking at the bar!
