Canon 9000F & AI Studio for restoration?

Hello,
I have been considering this scanner and AI studio combination for purposes of making copies of prints for retouching and restoration of old and damaged photos. Unfortunately most of the reviews I have seen are all twitterpated about the scanning of slides and negatives that there is little or no mention of scanning prints.
Will AI Studio remove scratches and dust from prints? While I will be using this combo for slides and negatives as well my concern is the print quality as well. I will be doing most of the damage repair in Photoshop CS5 but having a good scan is important to me as I cannot afford these high priced scanners that are out there.
