PS and Silverfast

Hi!

Your help concerning the following questions would be very much appreciated.

Silverfast Archive Suite runs on a Windows Vista platform. Therefore colour management options within SF are at various points set to ICM. Now, what about the colour management options within Adobe PS? In the section of PS that gives options for colour conversion I have to chose between two modules: Adobe (ACM) versus Microsoft ICM. Which one to choose when PS is used to further edit images that were created by HDR Studio (or Ai Studio)?

Another question relates to the case of a parallel installation of two versions of PS, which does in itself not pose any problems as long as they are not open at the same time. Right now, the Silverfast plug-in appears only in the older version of PS and is missing in the newer version. The old version had already been there before the installation of SF Archive Suite, the newer one came later. Can Silverfast work with both (one at a time of course)? If so, what do I have to do to make it function with both?

Thank you so much,

Xenia

Well to make constant and solid color reproduction you should keep using the same color management system, in this case ICM

Since SilverFast was installed, well before the second PS version was installed, the plugin to start SilverFast from within photoshop is not there, you have the option of reinstalling SilverFast so that the plugin will be installed in the second photoshop version.

Dear Alejandro,

thanks for your kind reply.

This is the way I had cofigured it, although never quite knowing if it was correct. So thanks for finally clarifying this!

Since SilverFast was installed, well before the second PS version was installed, the plugin to start SilverFast from within photoshop is not there, you have the option of reinstalling SilverFast so that the plugin will be installed in the second photoshop version.

I had supposed that a reinstall would be needed for SF to show up in the new version of PS. Before I do so, I would however like to know if SF will then work with both PS versions or just one of them. Could you tell?

Thanks, enjoy your day

Update:

This is what I did, and it seems to do the trick. I did not reinstall SF, but instead copied the 3 SF-files (2 shortcuts and the twain-file) from the older Photoshops >Import-Export< folder to the corresponding folder of the newer PS version.

It seems to work fine. However, should this for some reason not be enough or wrong, please let me know.

Regards,

Xenia

If it works, there should not be any trouble.
