Negatives to Positives in 48bit HDR

Postby dances with wolves » Fri Dec 31, 2010 8:16 pm

Hello and thanks for your time.

I'm writing to confirm what I have understood after reading numerous posts, namely that 1. scanning negatives in 48 bit HDR color (SE plus) will render a RAW image that cannot be rendered positive. 2. that in order to change a negative image (as those scans rendered in 48 bit HDR color), the user would have to change the "image mode" to 48-24 bit color. Please confirm.

Finally, if number 2 above is correct, it is greatly disappointing as I bought scanner and software hoping to secure my old negatives in the highest/most affordable state possible.

Thanks again.

Dear customer,

you are right. If you save this image in 48 bit HDR (with SEplus) you can use "SilverFast HDR" to make it positive.
With SilverFast Ai you can make 48 bit scans with NegaFix so you get a positive image.

Best regards
