IT8-R calibration - how to use?

Postby burgor57 » Fri Jul 09, 2010 1:11 pm

I have an Epson 10000XL scanner and Silverfast Ai Studio 6.6.1
I ran the auto calibration using the IT8 reflective target and it created an ICC profile.
How am I supposed to use this profile or is the scanner/software now automatically using that profile for all subsequent scans?
I have trouble getting accurate colour scans I have to say. I am a giclee fine art printer and need to get accurate colour scans.
Anyone with any helpful information or experience please help.
Many thanks

Dear burgor57

The ICC profile you have created during the calibration should automatically be used afterwards. However If you want to check which profile you are using, you will have to assign a specific name to that profile first, this is done right after the calibration.

For that you will activate the option to save your profiles with your desired names.

Please open Options/Auto and select the last option "Custom ICC profile name"

Once you have done that you will perform an IT8 calibration, right after the calibration has been completed and before the profile is saved a dialogue will ask you for a profile name (make sure you use some useful name you can remember later).

Once you have your new profile name you can check if it is the correct profile on the Options dialogue/ CMS panel/input profile. (see next picture)

If you need specific details about color management and the IT8 calibration process in SilverFast I recommend you to download the user manual in PDF and read chapter 7.
