Auto Frame Alignment question

Hello-

I am having a difficult time with trying to figure out how to automatically straighten out the slightly crooked position of photos I am batch scanning. I am using a version of Silverfast that came bundled with my Epson 10000. I use it as stand alone right software now, I am not using it with photoshop. I also cannot get the "circles" that would allow me to rotate the pictures to adjust them to make them straight. It just seems as though this function isn't working. Does my version not support this? This is called AUTO FRAME ALIGNMENT and it does not seem to be working.

Dear Mannypinky,

The frame rotation is only available in SilverFast SE Plus and SilverFast Ai Studio.
Please make sure you have one of theses versions if you want to use this feature.

kind regards,

Hello-

I do currently have Silverfast AI version 6.6.1.

Is this the same as Silverfast AI studio?

I do not get the red circles that would allow me to rotate the images, either.

Thanks-

Carolyn

Dear Carolyn,

SilverFast Ai and SilverFast Ai Studio are two products, Ai Studio is the biggest brother of Ai and has a couple more tools available.

Cheers

Note however that that is not what the user manual says. The manual on the web site (sfv6.6upgradeaddendum_en_2009-07-01.pdf) is quite clear that rotation works on both and only automatic rotation is unique to Studio. I just bought 6.6 Ai having first carefully checked the document and tested the download demo. It works in the demo which covers both versions. The Manual p.25 states "SilverFast Ai Studio ... versions 6.5.5 or later now offer the option to automatically rotate and align frames". In the following section entitled "Manual frame rotation" it says "The mouse can be used to change the rotation of any frame freely" with no qualification of which software versions. This section of the manual seems a mix of features which do (resize) and do not (rotate) work in Ai with no qualification. This is very disappointing.

Our manual incorporates all versions.
The differences for the various versions can be viewed here.
