Newbie working with Eastman motion picture film

Hi - I am brand new to scanning and SilverFast software and clearly have a lot to learn! Something I cannot seem to find from the movies or documentation is how to work with my specific film.

When I was a kid my dad worked for a slide production company and he used to get me rolls of Eastman motion picture film to shoot with my Minolta. I seem to recall him saying it was 5247 film. He had it processed at work and I got both negatives and slides. But the stumbling block here is there is no such choice in the NegaFix window for this film. I've been selecting different combinations via trial and error (Kodak Portra 400 VC seems to look good) but was hoping that perhaps someone else has scanned 5247 negatives and can tell me precisely what works best here. Many thanks!

Dear pdimarzio,

We do not have experience with that film-type. Most likely the film had another name. If it does, perhaps you might get a curve with similar characteristics as those you are trying to scan.
I also hope someone else has made some scan with that emulsion.

Remember that you can create your own curves in SilverFast Ai and Ai Studio. See the NegaFix documentations and Films

Cheers
