LaserSoft Imaging

I am attempting to scan a piece of original artwork for a giclee print. The problem is that the painting has a glossy sheen and the reflective glare is resulting in a dull / washed out colour reproduction in the resulting scan. How can I get round this? I'm using SF 6.6.0r6, an Epson V500, Vista 64-bit, and have Photoshop CS4.

I do not believe there is much to do in this case, normally it is better to photograph the painting with side illumination. The problem with the scanner is that its light source is frontal.
Perhaps you might want to try with the camera and two light source (one on each side of the painting), you should position the lights at 45° or more so the reflections of the lights are not seen from the camera's point of view.
