Getting the colour back best practices..

I have several 30 or 40 year old slides which are suffering from this reddish fate.. I'm wondering what are the best practices to getting this colour back with minimal amount of effort on my part... I'm using SE Plus demo at the moment.. However I think i'd like the IT8 colour calibration and will probably buy the AE software package.. Look at attached file to see what i'm talking about.

Is the color cast already present in the original pictures? Which scanner are you using for the scanning task?

I am using the nikon coolscan V scanner.. The colour cast is present in the original picture..

Dear Telegix,

Since the color cast is already present in the original artwork, it looks more like they are monochromatic images, I suggest you try using the 8 bit greyscale to scan your pictures and get rid of the color cast.
