Force Quit -> Unable to Save -> Cannot import prefs

Mac OSX 10.4.11
Epson Expression 10000XL Photo
Silverfast Ai Studio 6.5.1r1a
Okay,
I am scanning an 8x10 color negative at 2400dpi. During the preview, I rotated the prescan horizontally so I could see the image without tilting my head and, during the end of the scan, the program stalls on "rotating the image" and\or writing the file. I force quit and restart silverfast.
My next scan (and thereafter) does not register in photoshop because of an 'end-of-file' error, meaning the file has not been finished. This is a bit frustrating as 2400dpi scans can take up to twenty minutes.
Coincidentally, I can scan at a lower resolution and load my images fine. However, when I try to re-scan my image at 2400dpi, the same error and I am unable to create a scan.
So, as you gentlemen might suggest, I backed up my prefs folder and deleted it. During my next start-up, everything was back to standards. I replaced the new prefs folder with the old one. My curves came back (read: My curves are meticulous and precious) BUT, as I prescanned, the preview was black. The preview was black with standard curves and preferences.
Therefore,
1) I need to be able to save a 2400dpi image, but only after
2) I am able to reimport my curves to scan the negative the way it should be but, I can't tell that because
3) I need to be able to see the preview.
I thank you guys for your time.

P.S. I must emphasize the importance of being able to export curves. If Photoshop can do it, you can do it!
