What is the best format to save my pictures in? Which uses the less space? I'm new at this picture saving so any advice would be appreciated.

jpg is a compressed format. You can select the amount of compression yourself. It is a compromise between quality and file size. Tiff in an uncompressed format- the files are much larger than jpg, but have the best possible quality. jpg is mostly used where small file size is desired (such as websites), while tiff is used for high-quality archival scans or for printing.
