New to Silverfast

Hello. I am new to Silverfast and new to negative scanning and I have a few basic questions that I hope you can help me with. My wedding photographer went out of business and left me with all of our medium format negatives. I now have a Epson 4490 and want to get them digitized. Based on numerous recommendations, I purchased Silverfast.
First of all, I think I need to read more as I don't think I am doing anything right. But my specific problems are the film that is listed on my negatives is either Kodak 400VC or Kodak PPF-2 6080. I can't find these listed in the film selector location and since I haven't gotten a picture to turn out right yet, I was wondering if this is part of the cause.
My second basic question is what is the standard size to scan a negative to? Meaning if I am trying to digitize all these negatives and keep them consistent in a usable format, what is the standard size to make them when (if) I ever successfully create an image from this negative?
Please help with these basic questions as it will help me get started with this large but very wonderful project.
Thanks in advance,
Matt
