LaserSoft Imaging

I've looked in the manual, and cannot find an answer to this.

I've just started working with Silverast 6AI on an Epson 4990 scanner. I've opened up the software and done a preview of a sleeve that has four compartments contains three 4x5 Portra negatives (the fourth compartment is empty).

I've used the active screen window to come in on one image. The auto exposure seems to look fine. But when I open the scan crops up to include all the negatives, the values change and the results would be unacceptable.

How do I keep the settings from the one image and apply it to the whole sheet? And how can I save that setting to use it for multiple pages (since a lot of imges were shot at the same time).

You will probably want to select "Batch" as the scan mode on the general tab for starters. Then one method is to use the mouse to drag a selection around each of the other frames of film. You will be able to individually adjust the settings for each frame and then scan them to either file or to your editing application (i.e. Adobe Photo Shop).

Thanks. I see how this can work, but when I have four images on the same page, and they all need the same correction, scanning individually seems like it would take a lot more time. And the whole shoot, some thirty images, all are in the same conditions.

It seems that there should be a way to save a setting, and then apply it. Sort of like saving a curves or levels setting in Photoshop, and then loading it.

I'm still reading the manual, but not finding anything yet. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

You can setup the first frame and then copy it to the others and then scan them all.

"To duplicate a scan frame, simply hold down the Option/Alt key and drag the currently active frame to the new location. A plus (+) sign appears indicating that a new frame is being created. This new copy of the frame will have all of the characteristics of the original frame."
