dpi vs. ppi

It is my understanding that dpi refers to any printing output device and thus dots per inch, but any type of screen visual should be catagorized as ppi or pixels per inch.

Why would the interface on the scanning procedures refer to dpi instead of ppi.

However, I guess we would have even more people questioning us about PPI when we would change to interface to display PPI instead of DPI, the notion they are used to.

There's another thing: Contrary to many other scanning software solutions, SilverFast does display output resolution in the box labelled DPI (i.e. unless you press the CTRL key or CTRL+Shift key combination).
Thus it is actually correct even when taking your point of view.
