what's the difference between using the Densitometer Scan Rotation button and using the Preview Rotation button?

what I have fathomed so far:

1. using the Preview Rotation button normally links to the Scan Rotation button too.

2. the Scan Rotation button overrides the Preview Rotation button. ie, if the Scan Rotation button is used, the Preview's orientation is ignored when the image is saved.

3. using the Scan Rotation button is time saving because a refresh of the Preview window is not required.

4. the Scan Rotation setting is saved with the parameter set. the Preview Rotation is ignored.

have I missed any other differences?

Dear Gregory.

The Scan Rotation button shows the rotation of the final scan. The Preview Rotation button rotates the preview and sets also the active frames rotation.

These two buttons really get useful, when you work on a flatbed scanner with multiple images on. Some of the images may be rotated, some may not.
Imagine:
1. Select the first image. This image is rotated (on the flatbed). For viewing that image, you might want to rotated the preview. The frame is rotated automatically.
2. Select the second image. This image is not rotated (on the flatbed). Since you have rotated the preview, you will see it rotated on the preview now. You can now rotate the preview back to its original state.
3. Please note, that the rotation of the first image didn?t change, when you rotated the preview back in step #2.

after scanning a roll of film to HDR, I created three parameter sets for the film type:

1. Advantix 100 ? landscape
2. Advantix 100 ? +90?
3. Advantix 100 ? -90?

I used Scan Rotation to set the rotation of the images for the latter two sets. while in SF, selecting these sets automatically selects the correct rotation. they work great.

in VLT, I select all of the landscape HDR images and drag them to JM. I select the landscape set. no problems. I then select the images which need to be rotated 90 clockwise and drag them to JM. I select the +90? set and so forth. I then save the job and click on Start.

unfortunately, JM ignores the Scan Rotation setting when it loads and processes the image. none of the images are rotated as specified and I'm forced to process the images one more time to rotate them. is this a bug? remember that Scan Rotation *is* saved with the parameter sets.
