the colours from scanned neg.seem to be divided into blocks?

Hi!when I scan 35mm color negatives the colors come divided into fields more than tones.I first had the same problem with b/w but that went away when i changed to grayscale.I?m sure there is a setting but where?
I don?t get this problem with epsons own software but on they crop my pictureson the other hand .thanks in advance/Berno
