IT8 Cal. Trans, Refl, or both?

I'm a scanning newbie. I am planning to scan both transparencies and C prints. I've got both IT8 transparency and reflective targets.

Is it the case that I should use the transparency profile for when I scan transparencies, and the reflective profile for when I scan reflective subjects?

If so, does the program automatically select which calibration profile to use or do I have to input it in the CMS window?

If you could explain quite explicitly the settings I require in CMS it would be most helpful.

That's correct

you should select "calibration" in the CMS dialog (scanner -> intern).

The tutorial doesn't cover the situation where you have TWO IT8 targets. Should I simply follow the calibration instructions as listed for each target, and will the program know to select the proper one, according to the scan type?

Hello!
I have a Epson 1680pro wich comes with two IT8 Targets. Do a calibratin once with the reflective, then once with the transparency target. After this procedure you have to choose "calibration" in the CMS dialog.

In the future you?ll get the correct profile. When you switch to "tranparency" you get the profile let?s say "T_silverfast_Epson.icc" (or something like this) and if you switch to "reflective" you?ll get "R_silverfast_Epson.icc". Sounds more complicated as it is ;)

hope this helps
